ACTION ALERT: National Energy Tax Bill Vote Tomorrow in the House!
- Scott Miller

Got an extra $1,870 per year to pay for higher energy, food, and other product costs?
Folks, time to get on the horn to your congressman or woman!
They are planning on voting tomorrow on the largest tax increase in our nation’s history. A tax that will increase the cost of every single item you buy, and massive increase in costs of directly energy related purchase such as oil, gas, electricity, heating fuel, etc…
The statists are putting on the big push, and the vote will be close, so you can make a difference. This from Reuters:
Climate change bill gaining in House: Pelosi
“We are making progress,” Pelosi told reporters when asked whether previously undecided Democrats were beginning to line up behind the climate change bill. “We intend to bring it up” this week, she added.
Before a debate by the full House can go forward, the House Rules Committee must sign off on the bill. It was working late on Thursday deciding which amendments would be allowed and other rules governing the possible floor debate.
President Barack Obama, hoping to prod wavering House Democrats, urged passage of the bill, saying it would create millions of jobs and “open the door to a new energy economy.”
House Democratic leaders have said they hope to schedule the vote on Friday on the “cap and trade” bill that would reduce carbon emissions from utilities, manufacturers and others by 17 percent by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050, from 2005 levels.
The United States is the world’s top greenhouse gas emitter after China.
Uhh, not to you idiot lib reporter… the reason that we are a top greenhouse gas emitter, is that because we have the worlds largest economy, moron!
Folks, again please call and email your congressman now (contact page link is at the top of the site)… here is a version that my family sent… feel free to use, or alter to your style.
Congressman,
I thought I would add my voice, and vote in urging you to vote NO on the so-called “climate bill” that will be up for a vote tomorrow in the house, and I’m sure heading your way soon.
This national energy tax will raise the cost of everything… including the basic necessities of life… food, electricity, gas, heating oil, etc… and for what? The religion of so-called “global warming”?
You have got to be kidding me!
Please know that if you vote to increase our taxes in such a massive way, my family and many others I have talked to in my neighborhood will work to defeat you in the up coming election.
So please vote NO on this sham “climate bill”.
PS. Please don’t even think about supporting any sort of government-run or sponsored national health service plan. Most Americans, despite some of the sham polls, do not want any gov’t meddling in our health care… and we don’t want to pay for anyone else health care either! Enough gov’t “fixes” already!
Regards,

The False Promises of a Demagogue
- Scott Miller
Uh-oh… what happened to Super-O? According to Pravda (our MSM) all he had to do was say the word, and the seas would part, the economy would be tamed, and we’d be on the road to full employment in no time… that’s all we heard from the media when they were ramming though the so-called stimulus plan, right?
In fact according to the Obamarxist himself, he said that if Congress passed his $1.3 boondoggle spending plan, the unemployment rate wouldn’t go higher than 8%.
Well, Congress passed the porkulus bill, and we learned last week that the unemployment rate has jumped to 9.4%
But, but, but… wait… I thought The One said that the unemployment rate wouldn’t get past 8% if we put $1.3 trillion on big government’s credit card.. what the heck is going on here?
Well Obama tried to explain today… this from the AP:
Obama repackages stimulus plans with old promises
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama assured the nation his recovery plan was on track Monday, scrambling to calm Americans unnerved by unemployment rates still persistently rising nearly four months after he signed the biggest economic stimulus in history.
Obama admitted his own dissatisfaction with the progress but said his administration would ramp up stimulus spending in the coming months. The White House acknowledged it has spent only $44 billion, or 5 percent, of the $787 billion stimulus, but that total has always been expected to rise sharply this summer.
“Now we’re in a position to really accelerate,” Obama said.
He also repeated an earlier promise to create or save 600,000 jobs by the end of the summer.
Neither the acceleration nor the jobs goal are new. Both represent a White House repackaging of promises and projects to blunt criticism that the effects haven’t been worth the historic price tag. And the job estimate is so murky, it can never be verified.
The economy has shed 1.6 million jobs since the stimulus measure was signed in February, far overshadowing White House announcements estimating the effort has saved 150,000 jobs. Public opinionof Obama’s handling of the economy has declined along with the jobs data.
For the first time, the administration admitted the economic forecasts it used to sell the stimulus were overly optimistic.
“At the time, our forecast seemed reasonable,” Vice President Joe Biden’s top economic adviser, Jared Bernstein, said Monday, explaining that the White House underestimated the scope of the recession. “Now, looking back, it was clearly too optimistic.”
By now, according to earlier White House economic models, the nation’s unemployment rate should be on the decline. The forecasts used to drum up support for the plan projected today’s unemployment would be about 8 percent. Instead, it sits at 9.4 percent, the highest in more than 25 years.
Some analysts believe the White House is still not being realistic, that Obama will be lucky if any real job creation from his recovery effort is seen by the end of the year, let alone the employment explosion he predicts.
“I think these estimates are overly optimistic,” said Arpitha Bykere, a senior analyst with RGE Monitor.
Obama spoke Monday about “modest progress” in the economy, citing fewer jobs lost last month than expected. He said he hopes to build on that in the months ahead with stimulus programs.
“We’ve done more than ever, faster than ever, more responsibly than ever, to get the gears of the economy moving again,” he said.
But he acknowledged, “I’m not satisfied. We’ve got more work to do.”
Americans apparently agree. Obama’s disapproval rating on the economy has risen from 30 percent in February to 42 percent, according to a Gallup pollcompleted May 31. Sensing weakness on a signature issue of Obama’s presidency, congressional Republicans are renewing their criticisms that the stimulus plan has not shown results, only mounting debt.
“This is President Obama’s economy, and his administration must provide results and specifics rather than vague descriptions of success that seem to change by the week,” House Republican Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia said. “The administration looks dramatically out of touch as they highlight the creation of temporary summer employment in the face of job losses unseen in decades, record unemployment and massive deficits.”
“Overly optimistic”… folks this is the same old crap sandwich that the politicians feed the American people time and time again. They paint a rosy scenario…that big government is the answer to the problem… if you just turn over a little more of your liberty… a little more of your money… everything will be AOK. As frustrating as it is for me to sit here and say, “I told ya so” … it’s even more frustrating to watch a majority of the American people fall for the stupid lines by the same stupid politicians over and over again.
By the way, what is this “We’ve done more than ever, faster than ever, more responsibly than ever, to get the gears of the economy moving again”? That is nothing but complete and total BS! The only thing that they have done more than ever, faster than ever, is grow the size of government.
And that’s the key here… what the statists fails to understand is that government doesn’t produce anything. Every dollar government spends has to be taken from the productive private sector. Anyone with a little economic common sense can clearly see that when government spends our money, that not one single private sector productive job is created… instead they create government jobs that have to be paid for by the private sector… that never go away whether they are needed or not.
If Obama really wanted to create productive jobs in this country, he would be rescinding the so-called stimulus bill. He’d be dramatically cutting the size and cost of government. He’d be lowering taxes on capital formation. He’d be lowering taxes on the American people, as they will spend their money much more productively than any government can. He’d eliminate corporate income taxes, which is really just a back-door tax on consumers.
There is plenty that Obama could do to get the economy going again and creating jobs gaian… but he’s really not interested.

Obama Promises Efficiency with Stimulus, Biden Says Full of Waste
- Scott Miller
I just love going way back (a couple of months) in the archives to find these clips… this is Obama touting how efficient, transparent, and careful the government was going to be with our $1.3 trillion they blew in the pork package they called “stimulus”
Then we have this today from his Veep… from Reuters:
Biden says some waste inevitable part of stimulus
“We know some of this money is going to be wasted,” Biden said during a roundtable discussion in New York with business leaders aimed at promoting the two-year stimulus plan.
The package was approved by the Democratic-led Congress in February over the objections of most Republicans, who were concerned about the potential for wasteful spending and because it will add billions of dollars to U.S. deficit spending.
“There are going to be mistakes made,” said Biden. “Some people are being scammed already.”
“Our credibility depends on transparency” for how taxpayers dollars are used, he added.
Don’t you just love how the statist are so cavalier with “wasting” OUR money? Do you think for one second that Joe Biden would enter into into any personal contract knowing that his personal money would be wasted? Hell no! So why the hell do they think it’s A-OK to piss away our money?
I guess so long as the American people can see that government is wasting the money, then that’s cool with the Obama administration… pathetic.

Change? Not So Much… Obama Ready to Raise Taxes on Poor & Middle Class
- Scott Miller
Remember this pledge, it was the key pledge of his presidential campaign:
You heard the man. Remember? This guy wasn’t just another politician, right? No, he promised to be something quite different. “Change” was his mantra, remember? The American people were tired the politics as usual, as the story went from Pravda… they were ready to elect Obama because he would bring a fresh new approach to politics. He was down to earth. Smart. You could bank on his word… how they knew this, I don’t know, but they were sure of it… then we get this today from the AP:
Obama said to be open to taxing health benefits
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is leaving the door open to taxing health care benefits, something he campaigned hard against while running for president, according to senators who met with him Tuesday.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., raised the issue with Obama during a private meeting with the president and other Democratic senators and later reported the president’s position: “It’s on the table. It’s an option.”
The president adamantly opposed health benefit taxes during the campaign, arguing they would undermine job-based coverage. But he’s now indicating openness to that suggestion from Congress, even if he criticized Republican presidential rival John McCain for proposing a sweeping version of the same basic idea.
Sounds one hell of a lot like a tax increase on millions of Americans who make one hell of a lot less than $250K per year… was that the change all you Obama voters were hoping for?

Obama Bails Out GM with Our Tax Dollars, Who Will Bailout America?
- Scott Miller
Today Obama used our kids future paychecks to bailout the UAW and GM. During his teleprompter-fed speech today, Obama said this:
Promising “the beginning of a new GM,” President Obama today announced that General Motors was entering bankruptcy protection, and that the federal government was giving it an additional $30 billion, making taxpayers a 60% owner of the auto giant. “Understand we’re making these investments not because I want to spend the American people’s tax dollars, but because I want to protect them. Instead of taking so much stock in GM, we could have simply offered the company more loans.”
Obama continued, “But for years, GM has been buried under an unsustainable mountain of debt. And piling an irresponsibly large debt on top of the new GM would mean simply repeating the mistakes of the past. So we are acting as reluctant shareholders — because that is the only way to help GM succeed.”
The president also stressed that he has no interest in running GM. “GM will be run by a private board of directors and management team with a track record in American manufacturing that reflects a commitment to innovation and quality,” he said. “They — and not the government — will call the shots and make the decisions about how to turn this company around.”
Sooo… let me ask this really silly question… how is it that the brilliant Obama (savior of the world… able to leap over buildings… sorry got of track there) suddenly seems to understand how detrimental massive debt can be? I mean seriously, for fun, let’s swap out the word “America” for “GM”… it would sound like this:
“But for years, America has been buried under an unsustainable mountain of debt. And piling an irresponsibly large debt on top of the new America would mean simply repeating the mistakes of the past. So we are acting as reluctant shareholders — because that is the only way to help America succeed.”
You see, in Obamaland it’s OK to bury the country in debt (as he piles another $10 trillion in Obama debt on the shoulders of our kids) because we can just turn on the printing presses, right? Wrong. The same economic principles about unsustainable debtload that applies to GM, applies to the United States government. So the question must be asked… who will bailout America?
Also, calling the new GM board a “private board of directors”, is an out-and-out lie. With the American and Canadian governments appointing the vast majority of the directors to the board, there is nothing “private” about it. He just wants to be able to blame someone else, “the private board”, when this whole thing fails again.
Obama is so arrogant with his say-one-thing-and-do-another approach, it’s just plain silly now. How he can think anyone, other than Pravda (our MSM), believes him when he says ‘he doesn’t want to run GM’ is beyond me… that is exactly what he wants to do, and that is exactly what he will be doing.
And at the end of the day, this is just delaying the inevitable… GM is toast, both the old GM and the new GM. Americans will instinctively turn away from buying vehicles made by the government… same holds for the new Chrysler. Our tax dollars are being thrown down a rat-hole.
Seems to me Ford has a tremendous opportunity to gain mega market share here… let’s see if they can get their act together enough to capitalize on it.
