Vitter Named Top Republican on Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee
Will have direct oversight over strategic forces commands in Louisiana
(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today announced he has been named the top Republican on the Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee in the U.S Senate for the 111th Congress.
“This subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has a direct impact on the strategic forces operations in Louisiana,” said Vitter. “This position will also allow me to provide a stronger voice for critical national defense issues like missile defense. The Obama administration has made it clear that they intend to cut these critical defense programs, but I intend to fight for their continued support.”
The Strategic Forces Subcommittee has jurisdiction over missile defense, nuclear weapons and deterrence and space programs. READ MORE…
